Seth's First ER Trip

We went to the water park tonight, and had only been there about half an hour when Seth fell and cut his chin on one of the slides. He was trying to hurry and go down the slide before me (even though he knows he always has to go after me so I can catch him in case he goes down face first, backwards, etc). Anyway, he slipped and cried a little, but seemed fine so we went down the slide. He went down again, and this time I noticed he had a little bit of blood dripping down his chest. I checked his face, neck, and chin, and sure enough he had a gaping cut on his chin. Elijah and Daddy stayed at the water park, and Seth and I headed to the ER. We had to wait awhile to be seen by the admitting nurse, and the whole time Seth kept asking to go back to the water park. After been seen by the admitting nurse, and being sent back to the waiting room, Seth thought we were done and threw a big fit when I told him we had to stay. After another 10 minutes or so, we were taken back by the nurse. She put some numbing gel on a gauze pad, and taped it to his chin. This made it so much easier to keep him occupied while keeping the gauze on-when Elijah got his stitches they had me hold the guaze on his face. Much easier to distract two busy hands when you don't have to hold something on their face! After a while the doctor came in, and said we could glue his wound with dermabond because it was a straight cut. They put a pillow under Seth so that his head was lower than his chest, making his chin easy to get to, and had me lay on Seth's check and hold his hands, which allowed me to talk to him through the whole thing. He screamed through the entire gluing, though I was able to ask him questions and get him to scream a little less. The doctor and nurse thought it was funny that he would scream and answer my question and go right back to screaming. They were also impressed that I knew all the answers to his questions :) I asked him things like did he want M&Ms or Skittles as a treat for being such a good boy (Skittles), what color bug juice did he want (Red), should we get Elijah a treat too (yes), and where should we go eat supper (Space Aliens). Since Chris and Elijah were still swimming, and Seth can't swim for 5-10 days, he and I went to Space Aliens to eat supper (we go to the ER at 6:20 and left at 7:40) and play games.
Here's Seth's chin-notice he's smiling for the picture... :) Still a very happy boy!He was loving posing for me-that never happens!RAWR!!He let Mommy get in on some picture too :

More Water Park Fun

Waiting for the bucket to dump-we had just gotten to the water park and were waiting for our pizza. Trying to run under the bucket while it dumps, but a little too scared to get quite far enough

Pizza! We had run some errands during the morning, and I tried to talk to boys into McDonald's or Burger King, but the only thing they wanted for lunch was pizza at the water park.

Seth eating his pizza. He picks off all the pepperoni and eats them before eating the rest of the pizza (kind of like how mom eats supreme pizza-all the toppings first, then the rest)Heading up the stairs

Seth covered his face most of the way up-took him a while to get to the top.Elijah going down the slide all by himself! I've been trying to talk him into going down the slide by himself for quite a while, but he would always tell me he'll go alone when he's 5. He started going up the stairs, and I asked him where he was going and he told me to go down the slide. YAY!
And of course whatever big brother does, Seth has to do too-weeee!!

Elijah on the green slide. Seth wouldn't try this one. Elijah was kind of funny on the green slide-most people go down it really fast, but Elijah would go really slow, and would end up stopping just before the end of the tunnel.Seth making a big splash! I had to stand at the end of the slide when he came down-he didn't always quite make it sitting up. One time he came down head first-not sure how that happened!
Posted this twice-oops! can't figure out how to delete it, and don't want to start over again. It's a cute pic though. The splash area with slidesThe slides

Summer Fun

We rode the bikes to Wally's to get Fireworks and groceries. We didn't plan on buying as much stuff as we did, so poor Seth was in the bike trailer along with a lot of other stuff! He's a good sport though :)
Elijah rode in the bike seat (thank goodness or we never would've fit both kids and all the groceries!)
After our shopping trip, the boys took a bath and put on pjs so they could stay up later and light fireworks.

Elijah and Daddy lighting a firework

Elijah's reaction to the firework...
Seth lighting a firework with Daddy.
And Seth's reaction...
Elijah with a sparkler-he was a little frightened of them...
Seth with his sparkler-with all fireworks he would cover his mouth, though I'm not sure why...
After the boys each lit a couple fireworks, all they wanted to do were sparklers and those little pop things you throw at the ground. Whenever Chris would light off any fireworks, both boys would run to the front step, sit down, and Seth would cover his mouth and Elijah would cover his eyes. Weird because last year they both couldn't get enough of fireworks!

Our Pets

For those that don't know them, here are out pets.
Steve, our MinPin, is 4 1/2 years old. I got him in March of 2006 while Chris was in Iraq. This is Chloe, one of our two cats. She's 5 years old-we got her in June of 2005 right before Chris deployed to Iraq. This is our other cat, Simon. He's 2-Elijah picked him out at the pet store in July of 2008.
